Description
T8 LED Type A-B Tube work with either the existing electronic ballast in circuit or ballast removed. While keeping the existing ballast in place can make for a quick and easy swap out, be aware the energy savings are significantly affected by the energy the ballast continues to consumes, and also how it reduces the lumen output of the T8 LED type A-B tube light. For best performance the ballast should be eliminated, after all its a failure point and when it does fail, you either are faced with purchasing a new expensive ballast or rewiring the fixture!
Maximum energy savings and best light performance are only provided when the electronic ballast is eliminated from the circuit. In doing this type A-B tubes must be powered from one side only, this may mean exchanging the existing tombstones for a non shunted version, if the current tombstones are shunted!
Another option would be to install our type B T8 LED tubes that only work with the ballast removed from the circuit , but do not require any alteration to the tombstones or wiring. Type B tubes operate on line voltage either 120V or 277V and represent a very fast retrofit solution to any existing fluorescent tube light fixture.
